Liza Soydan

Liza is passionate about informing clients’ strategic decision-making to ensure they gain and maintain both broad and deep understanding of key external and internal issues.  She has a honed ability to identify, collect, and analyze meaningful information, connecting the dots quickly to find the meaningful insights required to understand the full context of an organization’s opportunities and challenges.

Since 2015, she has led a boutique business research firm based in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  Her team has delivered research services to clients ranging from a Fortune 100 to small non-profit organizations.  Liza has led clients’ deep study of environmental issues, international markets, domestic policy, and organization impact (in the areas of entrepreneur support, community service delivery, and others).

Liza teaches a unique course, Opportunity Assessment, to MBA and undergraduate students at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.  In connection with the course, she oversees a student-run business research consultancy known as Solution Scholars & Co.  In these roles, she aims to develop students’ analytical and contextual thinking skills.

She credits Clarus, where she worked as a consultant and in business development for five years, for strengthening her understanding of organizational theory and effective change management, which she continues to employ when providing objective insights for use in clients’ decision-making and implementation processes. She frequently collaborates with the Clarus team on projects that can benefit from her expertise or approach.

Previous Experience

Before she joined Clarus in 2009, Liza worked for amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, where she was charged with producing a pre-strategic planning report for the amfAR Board of Trustees and executive management.  This work included a one-of-a-kind environmental scan that analyzed the mission and financial performance of over 1200 nonprofit organizations.  Prior to that, she served as the Vice President of Partnership Development at a publicly-traded nanotechnology firm, where her duties included development of relationships with universities in Europe and the United States and management of investor relations.
