Kay Kornmeier

Kay brings both a strong theoretical foundation and a wealth of real-world knowledge and skills to her work for Clarus and its clients. Her ability to help build and develop strong organizations is grounded in systems theory, as well as her own background and experience as a consultant and small business owner. Kay examines a project from all angles, composing a comprehensive picture of intersecting objectives, methods and personalities. Through this process, she comes to understand the organization’s culture and unique history, enabling her to tailor an individualized plan for achieving success.

Kay knows that listening to a client is the first integral step in developing effective plans, training programs and change management strategies. Her long experience in organizational development and optimization began during the 12 years she spent as a psychotherapist in private practice, when she served as a consultant on organizational issues for numerous corporate and nonprofit clients.

Clients also benefit from Kay’s background in the publishing industry, and her knowledge and understanding of the power of media in general. She is a gifted communicator who takes personal and professional satisfaction from helping organizations articulate their goals and translate them into relevant internal and external messages targeted to appropriate audiences.

Previous Experience

Kay spent 12 years in private practice as a psychotherapist and corporate/organizational consultant in St. Paul, Minnesota and Atlanta. Her corporate clients included Gilette, Westinghouse and Boeing. She moved to Birmingham in 1989 to co-found a publishing company that was purchased by a British media conglomerate after 11 years in business. Following a stint as Interim Director of a Birmingham-based nonprofit, Kay had her own consultancy for three years before co-founding Clarus Consulting Group with Lynn Elgin and Cathy Wright.
